Ingredients

  • 1.5 tsp Ceremonial Grade Matcha Powder
  • 2 tbsp Hot Water not boiling, approx 175°F
  • 1 cup Milk Oat, Almond, or Dairy
  • 1-2 tsp Maple Syrup or Honey optional
  • Ice cubes for iced version

Equipment

  • Sifter
  • Bamboo whisk
  • Electric handheld frother
  • Small bowl
  • mug

Method

  1. Sift the matcha powder into a bowl or wide mug to remove any clumps.
  2. Add the hot water to the powder.
  3. Using a bamboo whisk or electric frother, whisk vigorously in a zig-zag motion until the tea is fully dissolved and a frothy layer forms on top.
  4. Stir in your sweetener if using.
  5. For a Hot Latte: Heat your milk until steaming (do not boil) and froth it using a frother. Pour the warm milk over the matcha base.
  6. For an Iced Latte: Fill a tall glass with ice. Pour cold milk over the ice, then slowly pour the whisked matcha on top for a beautiful swirl effect.

Notes

Always use water that is below boiling point to prevent the matcha from becoming bitter.
